Kleber Square

Place Kl ber, 67000 Strasbourg, France

Description:

The largest square of the city was named after General Jean-Baptiste Kleber, who was born in Strasbourg in 1753.

On the square there is a statue of Kleber, under which there is a small crypt with the remains of the general. It hosts all the official ceremonies of the city, various events and celebrations, as well as the largest Christmas tree in the province.

In the Middle Ages there was a high church, which adjoined the monastery of monks-cordeliers. In those days, the square was called the Rasutykh Square, and a little later it turned into a training parade ground. To the right of the sculpture is the building of the guardhouse, which after 1870 turned into a conservatory.

The square also has a leisure center "Sine-Ball" and the gallery "Lafayette" - a shopping center with fashionable clothes.
