Description:

Castle Frankenbourg is a ruined castle of the XII century, located in Alsace, Lower Rhine, France. The name of the castle is translated as “Fortress of the Franks”. The construction of the castle was started in the V century. In the same century, King Clovis the First Meroving lived in the Castle. He took an important place in the history of the country due to the fact that at one time, having renounced paganism, he adopted Christianity together with his people.

The main events that took place in France in the Middle Ages took place here. After a fire in 1582, the castle was destroyed. Currently, the castle is in state ownership, but to this day it is only a ruin, since it has not been restored. The castle was listed as a historical monument in 1898.
