Palace of Congresses (Casino)
Description:
The casino (now the Congress Palace) was built in stone in 1865. It consisted of a theater, a ballroom, a reading room and a veranda. In 1995, the casino was rebuilt into a congressional palace. The southern facade of the building overlooking rue du Casino is made in the style of neo-Louis XIII. The northern facade facing the park is made in neo-baroque style. It consists of a central part and two facade protrusions decorated with four caryatids representing the seasons. Caryatids support two pediments, a clock is installed in the left, and a barometer is installed in the right. In 1901, the casino was expanded by the addition of a stone building, which housed salons, a walking gallery, a large hall and a theater. The theater hall was designed for 1,400 seats.
