Point Denis Beach

Point Denis is the most famous seaside resort in Gabon, located on the Atlantic Peninsula, near Libreville. Not far from the resort is Pongara National Park.

The coast of Point Denis is a nesting place for leatherback turtles. This is the largest species among modern turtles: their length can be 2.5 meters, and the span of flippers up to five meters. Leather turtles are an endangered species. During the mating season, up to two thousand nests are laid on the beaches of Point Denis. An environmental movement has been established in Gabon to help preserve the leatherback turtle population.
