Ivindo River
Description:
The Ivindo River is one of the major tributaries (500 kilometers long) of the Ogove River, Gabon's main river. It flows from the north-east to the south-west of the country.
Ivindo originates on the border with the Republic of Gongo in the northeastern part of Gabon. The confluence of the Ivindo rivers with Ogove is located near the city of Cancan, where the railway line passes. The mouth of the river has magnificent waterfalls. Almost the entire area surrounding the river received the status of a protected protected area: the upper current is Minkebe National Park, and the lower one is Ivindo National Park. On the river Ivindo is the city of Makoku.
