Description:
Lake Peligre, located in the central part of the island of Haiti on the Central Plateau, is the second largest lake in the country.
The lake was created as a result of the construction of the Peligre Hydroelectric Station on the Artibonite River in 1956-1957.
Soil erosion caused by forest erosion in the valley of the Artibonite river during deforestation has led to strong silting of the reservoir.
