Aachen: Throne and water
Description:
The name of the tour is not accidental. Initially, the place was known since the Romans for its mineral springs. An interesting and picturesque city on the westernmost edge of Germany was the residence of Charlemagne himself. In the central part of the Dome Cathedral is the throne of Charlemagne, on which more than 30 royal persons of Europe were crowned. Under the Kaiser Frederick Barbaros, also crowned on the throne of Charlemagne in the 12th century, Aachen received the rights of a free city. At the same time, construction of the city wall with a length of 2.5 km, called the Barbarossa Wall, began. Some preserved medieval houses in the historic center of the city add to the feeling of true antiquity. Each of the streets of the old city is worthy of a separate excursion - so much interesting and exciting can be told about each house-monument of its time.
After a tour of the old city with a visit to the Dome Cathedral and its treasury, we will visit the picturesque Monschau, lost in the mountains of Eiffel and fully preserved its historical face. If we have time, we will make a small throw in the corner where the borders of Germany, Belgium and Holland meet. This place is only 5 km from the city of Aachen.
In my face you will find not only a guide and a private guide-interpreter, but also a personal photographer.
One of the oldest cities in Holland - Maastricht - just 30 km away by road through the picturesque Dutch Switzerland. In short, surprises are guaranteed here.
