Aachen Bridge Gate
Description:
The bridge gate, located in the German city of Aachen, was built at the beginning of the XIV century. Along with the Marschiertor gates that have survived to this day, they were intended for the defense of the city and were part of the city defensive ring.
At various times, the bridge gate with a four-storey tower and tent roof served as a point for collecting taxes, a prison, a youth hostel. Today, the four-meter arched gate, renovated in 1973, with an additional defensive structure at the entrance, is a popular tourist destination.
