About the company:
The Schnutgen Museum opened in 2010 in the building of the architectural monument - the Basilica of St. Cecilia. The museum is named after the donor of the collection - Alexander Schnutgen. In 1906, Alexander Schnutgen, a member of the Cathedral Chapter, decided to transfer his collection of medieval history items to the property of the city. The collection of the museum presents exhibits of European medieval art - tapestries, paintings, decorative products made of gold, silver and ivory.
The main theme of the collection is religious. Genre paintings illustrate evangelical and biblical subjects. Here are the authentic vestments of the clergy, from the early Middle Ages to the present day. Among the exhibits are a number of sculptural images of the Madonna.
