Fountain of Hercules
Description:
The fountain "Hercules" is located in front of the Schetzler Palace (Schaezlerpalais) on Maksim Llanstrasse (Maximilianstrasse e). Established in 1597-1600 in honor of the 1600th anniversary of the city. This was the period of the highest prosperity of Augsburg and the rapid development of industry. In the late XVI - early XVII centuries in the city there were 7 spinning and 6 weaving factories, several mechanical plants, dyes, cloth, cotton, laminated, tobacco, brass and other factories.
The fountain symbolizes crafts, the development of which depended on the conquest of natural elements, the use of river water, fire, metals and the creative power of man.
