The Fountain of Neptune in Augsburg

Jakobsplatz 18, Bavaria, Augsburg, Germany

Description:

The fountain of Neptune in Augsburg is dedicated to the great Roman god Neptune. It is one of the oldest fountains in Augsburg since it was built in 1537. The creator of the majestic structure is the sculptor Hans Daucher.

The fountain is a statue of a man - a god, installed on a chic carved pedestal. Neptune holds a trident in his right hand and a fish in his left. The statue is made of bronze, the pedestal is carved from stone.

The Neptunbrunnen fountain was originally installed in the fish market. It was later moved to Weismalergasse. In 1888 he found his permanent seat near the court of Jacob.
