Lake Mummelsee

Baden-Württemberg, Germany

Description:

Lake Mummelsee is located between the towns of Unterstmatt and Ruestine, near the Blackzwald Mountain Road. These places can not be better disposed to memorable country walks and rest in the lap of nature. The lake is located at an altitude of more than a thousand meters, surrounded by the Black Forest, and shrouded in many legends. It is believed that mermaids are found in this mysterious mesmerizing body of water, and at night the lake Lord himself comes to the surface to admire the moon.

Mummelsee, or “white water lily”, is a cara lake. In addition to its high location, it is distinguished by its rounded shape, great depth, rocky shores, as well as the absence of waterfowl and fish in it. In the transparent lake surface, mighty spruces are reflected, and the bizarre roots of age-old trees create a truly fabulous mood. Nearby there is a plaque indicating that this is where the Grimm brothers drew their inspiration.
