Monument to Dostoevsky
Seufzerallee, 76530 Baden-Baden, Germany
Description:
The monument to F.M. Dostoevsky in Baden-Baden personifies the instability of the writer’s life, familiar from his biography and novels.
The monument was built by sculptor Leonid Baranov.
The monument appeared in Baden-Baden in 2004. The author of the sculpture wanted the monument to be located in the backyard of the Baden casino, symbolizing the time of the writer’s addiction to the game, but it was decided to put a monument in the Rotenbakhtal valley. To get to the monument, you need to walk past the building in which the prison used to be located.
Dostoevsky liked Baden-Baden, and the writer loved to stroll around this German resort, admiring its magnificent views.
