Untere Bridge

Untere Brucke, 96049 Bamberg, Germany

Description:

From the Untere Bridge (Lower Bridge) offers the most beautiful view of the city. From this place you can see the old city hall of the XVIII century.

The lower bridge is a unique and exceptionally beautiful element of the center of Bamberg. Below the bridge, downstream is the old harbor. Every year, the Sandkerwa fair is held under the bridge, known for its bright fireworks and incendiary shows.

Currently, the city plans to build a new bridge, replacing the current one, built in 1913 from reinforced concrete. The bridge was blown up in 1945 and has only been partially repaired since then. The Bamberg City Council has already announced a competition among renowned architects to design a new bridge.
