About the company:

The Rhine Museum is one of the oldest museums in the country and the largest museum in the Rhineland. The collection of the museum originates from the Museum of Antiquities.

The museum was founded in 1820 and is located in the heart of the city. Visitors to the museum can see exhibits and documents from different eras, as well as an exhibition dedicated to Rhine history. The most interesting is a 50,000-year-old Neanderthal skull, various tombstones of Roman soldiers, and a huge stone altar of Hercules Saxanus from Brolthal. Among the most valuable exhibits presented are a delightful mosaic image of Bacchus, as well as an amazing statue of a nymph, made by an unknown but undoubtedly great master. The carved image of the ship, loaded with four huge barrels, deserves attention. This work, dating from 220, adorns the tombstone of a local wine merchant. The collection of paintings includes works by local artists.

The museum is open daily (except Monday) from 10:00 to 18:00, on Wednesdays - until 21:00, the entrance fee is 8 euros.
