Fountain of Bugwelle von Bremerhaven
Linzer Strase 9, Bremerhaven, Germany
Description:
The Bugwelle von Bremerhaven Fountain was erected in May 2002 in Bremerhaven under the direction of Mayor Jörg Schulz. On Burgermeister-Smidt-Strase, such an original sculpture immediately attracts the attention of tourists and locals.
This architectural structure is a bronze ship, or rather its bow. From the very top to passers-by leaned a woman holding out her hand. With this movement, she greets passers-by from a height of 5 meters. Standing in front of the sculpture, it seems that the ship is moving, because symbolic waves are made on both sides, dissected by the bronze stern of the ship. In front of the ship is a buoy, which was cast in 1664 in bronze.
The idea of the author of this work completely exceeded all expectations. Bugwelle von Bremerhaven symbolizes the historical, economic and social events experienced by the city.
