Betherstrasse Street
Bottcherstra ß e, 28195 Bremen, Germany
Description:
Beutcherstrasse Street is located in the small town of Bremen, in northern Germany. It is located near the quarter of artisans Schnoor, it got its name in those days when it was a street of Bochars, although now it has nothing to do with the Bochars. Today it is a very unusual street.
The street is small, only a hundred meters long, and there are only seven houses on it. The houses are buildings of the XVIII century, but slightly modernized. The street has acquired such an extraordinary look thanks to coffee merchant Ludwig Roselius, who is known for inventing decaffeinated coffee.
The street begins with a gilded panel of St. Michael the Archangel, then according to the plan of Ludwig Roselius there are seven houses, each of which has its own name: the House of the Seven Sloths, the House of Robinson Crusoe, the Fountain House, the House of Atlantis. House 6 on this street is simply called the House of Ludwig Roselius.
Also on this street is the famous museum – the Museum of Paula Becker-Moderzon, where there is a permanent exhibition of her work. Nearby is the Roselius Museum, a collection of Hanseatic merchants. An interesting appearance of the street, beautiful bas-reliefs and intricate sculptures, as well as a huge number of flower beds decorate it and give it an extraordinary look.
At noon, for fifteen minutes, small bells can be heard ringing in the street of Beutcherstrasse. At the same time, the wall of the house shifts and portraits of famous balloonists are visible. Beetherstrasse Street is the cultural center of Bremen and a highlight among the sights of Germany.
