Museum of Overbeck
Alte Hafenstra ß e 37, 28757 Bremen, Germany
About the company:
The Overbeck Museum, located in the German city of Bremen, bears the name of a famous family of Bremen artists. The museum was opened in 1990 in the same house where the couple spent the last years of their lives. The house in the classical style is located in the area of the town of Fegezak, near the Weser River. The interior of the museum is made in a rural style, the canvases, separated from each other by wooden beams, hang on massive wooden supports.
Exhibits of the Overbeck Museum are landscapes depicting swamps, beaches, dunes of the North Sea and the beauty of the “colony of artists” in Worpswede, which, together with like-minded people, was organized by Fritz Overbeck (1869-1909), a famous German artist who painted naturalistic landscapes. Most of the exhibition is occupied by paintings by Fritz Overbeck and his wife Hermina (1869-1937), who also worked with landscape sketches.
