Central Station of Bremen
Description:
Bremen Central Station is one of the main transport hubs in Germany, carrying out local and long-distance rail transportation. Originally opened in 1847, at that time there was only one direction – Hanover. Soon several more directions were opened - to Fegezak, Bremerhaven, Oldenburg, as well as Ilzen. In 1870, at the initiative and at the expense of local authorities, the territory and the building of the Central Station of Bremen were expanded, as they ceased to cope with the flow of passengers. The next major construction work was carried out in the 1990s and early 2000s, which resulted in the construction of underground tunnels connected to waiting rooms. The repair work was estimated at 12.6 million euros.
Currently, trains depart from the Central Station of Bremen in such directions - Osnabrück, Oldenburg, Nordenham, Verdun, Hanover, Bremerhaven, Osnabrück, Hamburg, Ilzen and Rothenburg. The station building, built in the classical Baroque style, deserves special attention, which, despite numerous restorations, has retained its original appearance. On its facade are beautiful sculptures with images of the coats of arms of Bremen and Hamburg.
