St. Rinald's Church

Friedhof 1, Dortmund, Germany

Description:

The Church of St. Rinald is a magnificent temple, the foundation of which was laid in the XIII century. The church is located in the historic heart of the city and is a symbol of the Hanseatic city.

The building was erected for several centuries from the XIII to the XVIII century, and that is why in its appearance there are elements of the most popular architectural styles - Romanesque and Gothic. By the way, unlike most churches in Germany, which are made in the Gothic style, the Romanesque style prevails in the appearance of the Church of St. Rinald.

The church was destroyed twice in world wars and rebuilt again. In 1958, a new organ was installed by Walker to replace the famous Eberhard Friedrich Valker organ.

By the way, until the last restoration, the church was Catholic, now it belongs to the community of the Evangelical Church of Germany.
