Rheinturm Tower

Stromstraß e 20, 40221 Dusseldorf, Deutschland

Description:

Rheinturm is a radio and television tower located in Düsseldorf. Its height is almost 241 meters, making it the highest structure in the city. The tower is used to accommodate DVB-T antennas, analog television antennas, as well as VHF radio services. Rheinturm is one of the symbols of Düsseldorf, it is visited annually by about 300,000 people.

Construction of the load-bearing structure began in January 1979 under the leadership of the leading engineers of the company Dyckerhoff und Widmann by order of the Federal Post of Germany. Initially, a platform with a diameter of 35.5 meters was erected, and then a cup-shaped concrete “basket”, which was subsequently stepped up by a jack for 2.5 meters and poured a concrete cylinder under it.

According to the project of the famous designer and architect Horst Bauman, 62 lamps were mounted in the “foot” of the Rheinturm tower, which can easily determine the current time. According to the Guinness Book of Records, this watch is the largest in the world. Also in the tower there is a beautiful observation deck, climbing on which you can enjoy the panorama of the city.
