On the left bank of the Rhine in the Heardt area in the territory of the Japanese community is the only Buddhist temple in Europe of the school of jodo-shinshū. It is built in the classical Japanese style of concrete and is surrounded by a Japanese garden. Near it there are rooms for tea ceremonies and a library.
