Rohuskirche Church
Bagelstra ß e 87, 40479 Dusseldorf, Germany
Description:
Rohuskirche Church, located in the German city of Düsseldorf, is dedicated to the victims of Auschwitz. For a religious building, the church looks very bold, as it is built in a futuristic style. The first building on this site appeared in the 90s of the XIX century, but during two wars was completely destroyed.
The local community of Düsseldorf built a modern temple in 1955, the main building of which is an egg-shaped structure mounted on 12 columns, symbolizing the 12 apostles. On the tower, located nearby, is a statue of the crucified Christ, created in 1982, but without the crucifix. On his left hand is the serial number of a concentration camp prisoner, as a symbol that the church is dedicated to all the victims of one of the most terrible places in the world – Auschwitz.
