Dinslaken Castle
Platz D'Agen 2, Dinslaken, Germany
Description:
Dinslaken Castle is a unique historic building in Dinslaken, the federal states of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It harmoniously combines exterior medieval architecture and interior modern design.
The construction of the castle was started in 1163 by Count Cleveskm Dietrich II. The construction was only the beginning of the capital improvement of the city of Dinslaken. Documented mention of the castle dates back to 1420. Eighty years of war destroyed Dinslaken, but soon the castle was restored.
In 1770, the main tower of the castle was damaged by lightning. Now the building plays not only a tourist, but also a managerial role in the life of the city. In it, the office of the mayor, the city archive and the registry office found their place. The castle is adjacent to the open city theater, famous for its performances.
