Wewelsburg Castle

Burgwall 17, 33142 Buren, Germany

Description:

Wewelsburg Castle is one of the few castles with secrets, most of which are still unsolved. The construction of the castle dates from 1603-1609. It was studied by Prince-Bishop Dietrich von Fürstenberg. The castle is preserved in perfect condition: it was not affected by weather disasters or destructive wars. In 1933, it became a school for SS fighters because Heinrich Himmler liked it.

Future officers were taught mythology, archaeology, esotericism, eugenics and other arts.

Today, the castle houses the Museum of Local History and the Museum of Ideology and Terror of the SS. If you like to wander through the labyrinths, visit this museum. For lovers of history, especially the history of the Second World War, the main interest will be the exposition located in a modern building, next to the castle.

Wewelsburg Castle is built in medieval style - a massive facade, wooden arched doors and windows, as well as a huge round tower adjacent to the right side.
