About the company:
Goethe Museum, located in the German city of Düsseldorf, occupies the premises of the ancient Jägerhof Palace, built in the late XVIII century in the Baroque style. The basis of the exposition of the museum is the private collection of Anton Kippenberg, owner of the book publishing house Inzel in Leipzig, who has devoted more than half a century to collecting things associated with the name of the great poet Johann Wolfgang Goethe. After his death, his daughter established the Goethe Museum in Düsseldorf, which also bears the name of Kippenberg and his wife Katarina.
The expositions of the museum are devoted to the life and work of the famous poet: childhood, life in Weimar, travel to Italy. In a separate hall there are exhibits related to the main work of Johann Wolfgang Goethe “Faust”. The exhibits of the museum allow you to see another side of Goethe’s life – his scientific activity: there is a collection of minerals collected by the poet. Part of the exposition is devoted to the era of the poet and the people with whom he was friendly, it is represented by paintings, coins, a collection of Meissen porcelain, busts of famous people of the XIX century. In total, the museum has collected about 35,000 exhibits, only a part of which is at permanent exhibitions.
