Museum of Modern Art in Duisburg
Philosophenweg 55, 47051 Duisburg, Germany
About the company:
The Museum of Contemporary Art, which attracts visitors with a beautiful collection and replaceable exhibitions of contemporary art, is a grain mill, reconstructed in 1999, built in the early 20th century in the harbor of Duisburg.
The architects of the building are Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meron, who converted the steel cylinders of the elevator of the 1930s into the exhibition space of the museum, turning the repository of material values into a repository of spiritual values.
Fifteen exhibition halls with a total area of 2,500 square meters house key works by German and other European artists and sculptors from 1950 to the present.
The expositions of the museum provide a unique opportunity to compare the diversity of individual approaches to art, including how the work of numerous artists has developed and changed over several decades. You can enjoy the works of such contemporaries as Georg Baselitz, Sigmar Polke, Bernard Schulze, Stefan Balkenhol, Jörg Immendorf, Anselm Kiefer and others.
