Museum of Shipping in Düsseldorf

Schlossturm, 40213 Duesseldorf, Germany

About the company:

Located in the German city of Düsseldorf, the Shipping Museum occupies a tower that was once part of a castle towering over this part of the city. The castle suffered from several fires, the last fire in 1872 destroyed the castle so much that the city administration decided to restore only the tower, which later housed the museum. There is a restaurant at the top of the tower.

Among the exhibits of the museum are models of various ships, maps, photographs telling the history of shipbuilding and shipping, a landscape model of the Rhine, a local port, finds from the bottom of the river and much more. The expositions of the museum acquaint visitors with the history of navigation from ancient times to modern days.
