Jä gerhofstraß e 4, 40479 Dusseldorf, Germany
About the company:
The Theatre Museum, located in the German city of Düsseldorf, was opened in 1978 in the so-called Hofgä rtnerhaus in the garden, in the courtyard of a two-story Renaissance theater. The basis of the museum collection consists of exhibits that were collected in the early XX century by actress Louise Dumont and director Gustave Lindeman - the founders of the Düsseldorf Drama Theatre.
The exposition of the Theatre Museum includes hundreds of exhibits related to the world of the theater: costumes, their sketches, posters, programs, various props, audio and video recordings, scripts and much more. Everything visitors see here tells the story of the city’s theatrical life from its inception to the present day. The main attraction of the Theatre Museum is the collection of photographs by Edward Straub, which presents the process of development of the Dusseldorf Opera. The museum also houses a library and a chamber stage.
