Paulskirche Church
Paulsplatz 11, 60311 Frankfurt am Main, Germany
Description:
Paulskirche Church (St. Paul's Church) is a Lutheran church built on the site of the former Franciscan Church in 1833.
The temple is a large red building with an oval hall, a domed roof and a high tower. It was the main Lutheran church in Frankfurt until 1944.
During the revolution of 1848-1849, the first German parliament, the Frankfurt National Assembly, sat in the building.
After World War II, the church was rebuilt after extensive destruction on the centenary of the Frankfurt National Assembly in 1948. It was reopened with the new name "House of All Germans".
There are no worship services in the church. It is used as a place for state events and exhibitions. This is where the German Booksellers’ Peace Prize is awarded.
