Heinich National Park
Description:
Heinich National Park is located in the center of Germany, between the city of Eisenach and the resort of Bad Langensalz. This place is not for nothing called the jungle in the heart of Germany, this mixed forest is dominated by beech thickets. In the most remote areas of Heinich, no trace of civilization is visible.
Therefore, during excursions to this national park, you can meet a variety of representatives of forest fauna: martens, black storks, bats, wild cats. By the way, a wild cat inhabited these territories long before the appearance of man. These are not schooling predators and there are no more than 3 dozen wild cats in the Heinich National Park.
The most important attraction of the park is the thousand-year-old oak, which bears the name "Oak of the Beggars". Legend has it that in the hollow of an old tree people once left alms for wandering monks. Over time, the hollow became through and quite voluminous. There is also a “path along the tops of trees”, it is laid at an altitude of 44 meters above the ground. Also, the administration of the park has developed many excursions.
