Embankment of museums
Schaumainkai, 60500 Frankfurt am Main, Germany
Description:
The Museums Embankment (Museumsufer) is the southern bank of the Main River in Frankfurt between the Eiserner-Steg pedestrian bridge and the Friedensbrücke bridge in Sachsenhausen. The embankment is so called because of the large concentration of museums.
This is the cultural center of the city, the venue for cultural events: on the last weekend of August, the “Feast on the Museum Embankment” takes place, and in spring – the “Night of Museums”, during which museums work all night. Chaumainkai Street, where the museums are located, is partially closed to traffic on Saturdays due to Frankfurt’s largest flea market.
