Goethe House Museum

Goethe House Museum, Groß er Hirschgraben 23, 60311 Frankfurt am Main, Germany

About the company:

Goethe lived in Weimar and Koenigsberg, and each of the cities invites the writer to the house-museum. But the house in Frankfurt am Main is the very first, here Goethe was born, here he spent his childhood and youth.

This building in a long row of streets and now looks like an exemplary and neat Frankfurt house of the XVIII century. However, this is the result of efforts not only builders, but also restorers. The bombing of 1944 destroyed not only the house where Goethe was born, but also the entire street. The house was carefully and thoroughly restored in the traditions of architecture and interiors of the Goethe era.

The house-museum collected an impressive collection of authentic things of the writer. These are portraits and paintings, pieces of furniture, original autographs by Goethe.
