Hanseatic city of Hamburg
Description:
The status of a federal state (like Berlin), almost 2 million people, more than one and a half thousand bridges (more than in Amsterdam!), 755 sq. km of area, which is 7 times more than Paris, so each inhabitant of the city has an average of 30 sq. m (world record!). The port serves 12,000 ships annually. Germany’s most scandalous “sinful mile” is the Riperbahn. The famous fish market, which forces residents and their guests to get up at 5 a.m. on a Sunday (or gathers those who just finish walking on a Saturday). The city in which the career of the Beatles began The city, in terms of the number of representative offices of foreign countries, is second only to New York. All of this - and more! - is Hamburg, a port city in northern Germany.
The history of the city began in 811, but in 845 it was burned for the first time by the Vikings. Friedrich Barbarossa endowed the city with important trade privileges, in Hanseatic times trading partners of Hamburg were Arkhangelsk and Veliky Novgorod. Several emperors during the Middle Ages confirmed its status as a free imperial city. In the XVII century. the city was the second most populous in Germany after Cologne. Unfortunately, the fire of 1842 almost completely destroyed the old city, and bombings and fires during World War II turned into ruins more than half of the houses. But Hamburg has survived everything, and today this dynamic, young and constantly renovated city offers tourists every taste.
Our sightseeing tour of Hamburg lasts about 2 hours, you will see: Alster Bay (internal and external), the symbol of the city of Michaelskirche and the ancient quarter of artisans with it, the magnificent Renaissance Town Hall (647 luxuriously decorated rooms, excursions are organized every hour, visits for groups must be booked in advance), the port and the old pedestrian tunnel under the Elbe, Riperbahn Street and much more. We highly recommend a walk along the port: tourists are offered many options, we will help you with the choice. The evening is devoted to recreation and entertainment, here the choice is huge, like no other city in Germany: restaurants for every taste, theaters, musicals, bars, fountains with light and music in the city park. Hamburg is waiting for you!
