Hamburg Town Hall
Rathausmarkt 1A, 20095 Hamburg, Germany
Description:
The Hamburg Town Hall, located in the German city of the same name, was built in the Renaissance style in 1886-1887 on the site of a burned-out former town hall building. The front of this majestic building is decorated with huge statues of emperors, crowned by its Baroque tower with a spire 112 meters high, on which the main city clock is located.
The interior of the 647 rooms of the town hall is incredibly luxurious. A special decoration is the Kaiser Hall, the walls of which are decorated with leather wallpaper. In one of the halls is kept the Golden Book of Memory, containing autographs of such great people as Bismarck, Charles de Gaulle, Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth.
Both the city hall and the Senate sit in the town hall, a rare occurrence in Germany.
