Hamburg Yenishpark

Baron-Voght-Straß e 1, 22607 Hamburg, Germany

Description:

Yenishpark is the oldest English park with a small house and museum in Hamburg. It was built in 1797.

The park will give its visitors pleasure not only from the contemplation of the natural beauty of meadows, old maples, chestnuts, oaks and streams, but will introduce you to the Yenish House and the Ernst Barlach Museum. The Yenishhaus was built by Senator Yenish in 1834 for himself and his family. Now this building, built in the classical style, is a museum where you can see the life of the nobility of the XIX century. Temporary exhibitions are held on the third floor of the building.

The Ernst Barlach Museum contains various works of this sculptor, as well as documentary information about his life.

Today, the park is a nature reserve, on the territory of which many events are held. For the convenience of tourists, a cafe was built near the park. Also, tourists can ride along the river by steamboat and see all the corners of the English park.
