Lake Alster in Hamburg

Alster, Hamburg, Germany

Description:

Lake Alster was formed in the XIII century in the center of Hamburg. It is larger than the Principality of Monaco. Millionaires’ villas are built on its coast, which is why it is known as the Millionaires’ Coast.

The artificial lake consists of the inner and outer parts: the first part with parks and gardens covers an area of 18 hectares, and the second - 160 hectares. Walking by boat or boat on the lake will bring unforgettable impressions. Vacationers will have a beautiful view of the city, the numerous beating fountains installed on the lake, as well as the snow-white swans.

It is amazing how many bridges there are in the city. There are about 2,500 in Hamburg, which is significantly more than London and Amsterdam combined. So, sailing on the lake, you can find more than one bridge.

On the way you can also meet vacationers by canoe, boats, boards, as well as on other “water transport”. Almost all tourists also look at the cafe located on the banks of Alster.
