Karlsberg Castle

Weinbergstrase, Homburg, Germany

Description:

Karlsberg Castle was founded in the XVIII century. For a short time belonged to Duke Carl August II von Pfalz-Zweibrücken. The castle served as a protective fortress, located at an altitude of 366 meters. At the end of the XVIII century, the French revolutionary troops destroyed the structure, after which only ruins remained, testifying to the former luxurious castle.

Currently, Karlsberg Castle is a significant historical and architectural monument. Since 1954, excavations have been carried out in its vicinity, which help scientists to guess what the structure looked like in its original form, as well as assess its possible size. This place will be interesting for those who are fond of medieval buildings.
