Museum of Wax Figures Panopticu n

Spielbudenplatz 3, 20359 Hamburg, Germany

About the company:

The Panopticum Wax Museum, located in the German city of Hamburg, is considered the oldest such museum in Germany. It was opened in May 1879 and is still a popular destination among residents and tourists. The museum at first was interesting because it exhibited wax figures of people who were noted in this or that case: dishonest mayors, criminals. The expositions also introduced visitors to the history of the city.

The museum of wax figures Panopticum was and remains a family enterprise, until his death the creator of the figures was the owner of the museum Hermann Ferber. Thanks to this, both during the First World War and after the terrible fire of 1943, when only 19 exhibits remained from the museum collection, this place retained its status as one of the most visited places in the city.

Today in the museum you can see 120 wax figures of famous people, including Einstein, Stalin, Roosevelt, Hitler, Princess Diana, Goethe and Schiller, and the “anatomical” hall, which collects models of human organs made of wax.
