Hamburg Customs Museum

Alter Wandrahm 16, 20457 Hamburg, Germany

About the company:

The German Customs Museum was established in 1992 and is housed in a building previously used by customs as a warehouse. The expositions of the museum are devoted to the history of German customs, from the time of the Roman Empire to the XX century.

On the second floor are expositions of the past. Visitors can see ancient exhibits from the period of the Roman provinces, the Middle Ages, the German Empire, the Weimar Republic, the Third Reich and exhibits of the customs service of the GDR. The first floor is dedicated to the modern history of customs - its role in world trade, the fight against piracy and smuggling of weapons and drugs. Next to the building is moored one of the exhibits of the museum - a boat previously used by the customs service. The entrance fee is 2 euros, for children under 18 years - free.
