Hanover's Old Town Hall

Kobelingerstra ß e 4, 30159 Hannover, Germany

Description:

The old town hall, located in the center of the German city of Hanover, is built of red brick in the Gothic style with characteristic islander turrets, arched windows and porticoes. It is a closed structure and consists of three parts: a two-storey trading pavilion built in 1410, the Court Portico and the Judicial Corps, which is a model of Italian romanticism.

In the autumn of 1943, the building was bombed and almost destroyed. In 1963, by decision of the city authorities, the building of the old town hall was completely restored in its original appearance. Now there is a restaurant in the building, and some of the rooms, such as the Festive and Small Halls, are used for business meetings, city holidays and festivals.
