New town hall building
Lower Saxony, Hannover, Maschpark, Trammplatz 2,
Description:
The new town hall is located south of the historic center of Hanover. Construction of the building was completed in 1913. The building is built in an eclectic style.
The building of the newly built town hall is located in a park area, to which a large and beautifully decorated pond adjoins. Outwardly, the town hall resembles a rich palace.
10 million marks were spent on the construction of the building. The author of the project for the construction of the town hall was architect Herman Eggert. The height of the dome of the town hall reaches 100 meters, and the width of the building is about 130 meters. The structure is installed and is kept on 6026 beech stilts. A small observation deck is decorated in the dome, from which, in clear weather, the mountains of Harza are visible.
On the first floor you can learn about the history of Hanover. Here are 4 models of development in 1689, 1939, 1945 and now.
