Sprengel Museum
Kurt-Schwitters-Platz 1, 30169 Hannover, Germany
About the company:
Sprengel Museum, located in the German city of Hanover, boasts a collection of works of the XX century. It was named after the famous local millionaire, producer of sweets, Bernhard Sprengel, who not only donated 2.5 million marks for the construction of the building in 1969, but also gave the museum his valuable collection of works of art. The building was built in high-tech style using metal and glass on a small hill. A staircase leads to the museum entrance.
The museum was opened in 1979, and in 1992 its area was expanded. Now in the collection of the Sprengel Museum are the works of Picasso, Chagall, Leger, Beckman and other great artists of the twentieth century. Widely presented are the works of the Surrealists, Dadaists and Expressionists, whom Sprengel so appreciated. In 2000, the French sculptor Niki de Saint-Fal presented 300 of his sculptures to the museum.
