Golden Tour

Description:

This is one of the most beautiful trips in Bavaria. The “Golden Tour” includes a visit to the cities of Landsberg am Lech, Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Neuschwanstein Palace, Wiz Church, Ettal Monastery, Rotenbuch Monastery, Oberamergau Village.

One of the most interesting cities of this route is Landsberg (1260). It is not only a beautiful medieval town with a well-preserved (or restored) old town centre, but also the location of the famous VIP prison. It was here that the leader of the NSDAP, Adolf Hitler, was imprisoned after the famous beer putsch in November 1923 and wrote here the most sinister book of the XX century, Mein Kampf. Then we stop at the remains of the old Roman road Via Augusta at the flood of the river Lech with its incredibly beautiful pearl color. Continuing our way through the cozy Bavarian villages, we reach the Schwangau district, where our fairy-tale castles are located: the castle of Ludwig II Noeschwanstein (1869-1992) and the castle of his father Maximilian Hohenschwangau (1832-1837). There we will climb the bridge named in honor of Ludwig II Bridge Mary (1866). From the observation deck we will have a magnificent view of the Alps and alpine lakes. After visiting the palaces, on the way to Garmisch Partenkirchen we will make a few short stops - in the church of Wiz (1745), which UNESCO recognized as one of the most beautiful churches in the Rothenbuh and Ettal (1330), between the two active monasteries, we will walk through the gingerbread, painted, alpine village of Oberamergau. On the serpentine we will go down and in a couple of minutes we will be in the resort town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Here we will visit the stadium of the 1936 Olympic Games, walk through the central streets of Garmisch and Partenkirchen and dine in one of the Bavarian restaurants with its traditional setting and cuisine. After the restaurant, about 22-23:00 hours, tired but happy we will return home.
