Görlitz

Görlitz tour

Description:

If you want to have a pleasant and interesting day, I suggest you take a trip to the easternmost city of Germany (110 km from Dresden), the city-pearl of architecture, the city of towers, fountains, the city of cinema, the city that is sometimes called “little Paris”. This is beautiful Görlitz.

For the filming of Paris in the 19th century in the film “80 Days Around the World” based on the novel by Jules Verne, as well as the film “The Grand Budapest Hotel” and many others, Görlitz was chosen. Who did not own this city for its almost thousand-year history, but they all left their mark in the guise of its squares, streets, alleys.

Surprisingly, it's true. In the small town (56 thousand people) there are about 4,000 monuments of architecture from the Renaissance to Art Nouveau, protected by the state, most of which are well restored. This cultural heritage is kept in perfect condition thanks also to the generous anonymous patron who has been donating 500,000 euros to the city for restoration work in its historic center for the past 20 years.

The city, one of the few in Germany, was not damaged during World War II. Miraculously survived, but was divided by the Neisse River into two components - German Görlitz and Polish Zgozhelets. Walking on German soil, you suddenly find yourself on Polish territory with its features and color.

Visiting Görlitz - one of the most beautiful cities in Germany and a symbol of European history, you will reward yourself with a wonderful trip!
