About the company:

The collection of the Museum of Fine Arts is considered one of the oldest, most valuable and largest in Germany.

The museum was opened to visitors in 1848 by members of the Leipzig Association of Art Lovers. At that time, the museum’s collection consisted of hundreds of works of contemporary art donated to the museum and housed in the building of the city school. After 10 years, a separate building in the Italian Renaissance style was built for the museum.

During the war, the museum was completely destroyed, after which its collection was housed in various buildings for more than 60 years. A new building for the museum was built in 2004.

The museum’s collection offers visitors 3,500 picturesque, 60,000 graphic and 1,000 sculptural works of art from the late Middle Ages to modern times. The museum contains works by German, Dutch, Italian, French masters. Modern art is represented by the works of masters of the Leipzig school.
