Mainz People's Park
Unterer Michelsbergweg 4, 55131 Mainz, Germany
Description:
Mainz People’s Park, the German city that is the capital of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, was laid out on the territory of a former military town. During the First World War, this place was built by the French occupiers barracks, warehouses and other buildings. They were later destroyed and a new park appeared in the city. In 1962, the People’s Park was expanded and connected to the city park by a pedestrian bridge.
On the territory of the National Park in good weather is always crowded: someone lies on the grass, someone walks along the alleys among spreading trees. For those who like to actively spend their free time, basketball courts are built in the Mainz People's Park, there are roller rentals and mini-golf. A favorite place to take photos is a bronze sculpture of a cute donkey that peacefully “plucks” grass on one of the lawns of the park.
