Description:
The Church of St. Gaetan Theatinerskirkhe is considered one of the most remarkable buildings in the Odeonplatz Square.
The appearance of the church was preceded by the birth of Maximilian, the son and heir of the Elector Ferdinand and his wife Henrietta Adelaide of Savoy.
At the heart of the project of the Italian architect Augustino Barelli is the Roman church of Sant Andrea della Valle. Despite the fact that the main building of the church was built in 1690, the facade was finished only in 1770.
The majestic facade decorated with two stylized towers, a beautiful 70-meter-high dome, elegant interior decor – all this became an example for imitation in the creation of many Bavarian temples. The rich interior of the Baroque church is decorated with magnificent stucco work by Giovanni Antonio Vascardi.
