St. Michael's Church
Description:
The Jesuit Church of St. Michael (Michaelskirche) was one of the main citadels of the Counter-Reformation. The good for its construction was given by William V the pious, and the cost of its construction almost led to the bankruptcy of the entire state.
The church began to be built in 1583, but due to the collapse of one of the towers, construction was delayed, and it was consecrated only in 1597. In November 1944, the church was destroyed during the bombing, but in 1947-48 it was restored.
