Schleischai Palace n

Maximilianshof 1, 85764 Oberschlei ß heim, Germany

Description:

Schleisheim Palace is the greatest example of the late Renaissance, built under the influence of Versailles. The palace was built by Italian architect Enrico Zucalli for Elector Maximilian Emmanuel in 1701. Joseph Effner worked on the completion of the palace.

Famous German masters worked on the interior, creating the eastern portal of the palace, a majestic staircase, a banquet hall, as well as various frescoes made on the theme of hunting and placed on the ceilings and walls of the palace.

The castle now houses the National Museum of Bavaria and the Aviation Museum. In the New Hall you can look at the collection of world painting, in Potashny – at Meissen porcelain, and in the Old – at religious art.

You can visit the palace from Tuesday to Thursday from 10 to 17 hours.
